Watch Honey’s full review of the Annes Styling Xina White Hold-Up Stockings. This episode sees Honey step away from the usual dark shades to try a white colourway, testing how this classic but less everyday choice holds up in terms of fit, durability, and styling versatility.
The stockings are rated at 20 denier, a weight Honey chose deliberately to avoid a heavy or opaque look. At that denier the white shade is delicate and light, giving a soft, understated effect on the leg rather than anything stark or costume-like.
Honey selected a size three to four, her usual choice because, despite being slim, her height and muscular legs mean smaller sizes come up too short. The fit at this size turned out to be perfect in length, so her general advice holds: taller or more athletic wearers should size up without hesitation.
Key observations from the review include:
- Sizing: size three to four fitted perfectly for a tall, lean frame
- Denier: 20 den gives a light, non-heavy finish in white
- Hold without suspender belt: the stockings stayed up reasonably well in movement, though they slid down very slightly without a garter belt
- Back seam: present and attractive, but requires careful alignment when putting them on
- Toe reinforcement: sturdy and functional, but the reinforced band is very visible in white with open-toe shoes
- Material feel: described as very soft throughout
Honey noted that these are not sold as self-supporting hold-ups but are designed to be worn with a suspender belt, which she did not have to hand during filming. Without the belt they stayed in place well enough for the review but did shift slightly during movement. With a suspender belt they would sit perfectly hidden beneath a dress or skirt.
The durability result was disappointing. After only a very short wearing session, small snags and runs appeared at the toe area and on the heel, one caused by a shoe zip and others likely from fingernails during dressing. Honey considers them quite fragile, and the toe reinforcement, while it exists, was not enough to prevent damage appearing almost immediately.
For styling, Honey tried two looks. The first, with a short dress and sparkly open-toe heels, showed off the back seam nicely but made the reinforced toe band clearly visible, which she found unattractive. The second look, pairing the stockings with a closed-toe shoe and a more intimate nightwear outfit, worked far better and completely concealed the toe band.
In her final verdict Honey awards a score of six out of ten. The material is genuinely soft and the design is clean and unfussy, making these a solid choice if you want a plain white stocking without lace or pattern. However, the poor durability after minimal wear prevents a higher score. She suggests treating them as a one-occasion stocking, perhaps ideal for a wedding or special event, and recommends pairing them with closed-toe shoes to hide the reinforced toe band.
