Watch Simona’s full review of the Wooti Romana ultra-sheer hold-up stockings. In this Glamissima video review, Simona tests the fit, sheerness, comfort and overall quality of these 8 denier made in Italy hold-ups.

Wooti is an Italian hosiery manufacturer from the province of Mantova, and the Romana model wears its origins proudly, starting with its Italian woman’s name. The composition is 85% polyamide and 15% elastane in size M, and the packaging makes an excellent first impression: a clean white cardboard box with an elegant logo and simple color accents, a small window on the back showing the actual lace top and color, and the brand’s website printed on the box for anyone who wants to explore the full catalog. One curious detail Simona points out: alongside Italian, the box carries text in Russian and legal information in Chinese, an unusual language mix, together with the made in Italy marking.
The box is also unusually informative. It details exactly how to care for the stockings: no bleach, no machine washing, hand wash only at 30 degrees. Simona reinforces this with her own golden rule for hold-ups: the less the silicone band gets wet, the longer it lasts, because machine washing is what makes the silicone deteriorate and crumble over time. A height and weight chart on the back helps with size selection, a point that turns out to matter a lot in this review.
Straight out of the sealed nylon bag, the stockings feel extremely sheer and soft, with a satin finish that gives the leg a glossy, silky effect. Here is what Simona finds in her hands-on and wearing tests:
- Ultra-sheer, luminous fabric with a genuine silk-like shine on the leg
- A tall, elegant lace top in a light natural color, with a floral design a bit different from the usual hold-up patterns
- Very soft toe seam, well integrated into the fabric and never bothersome, even pressed inside a shoe
- No reinforced sole outline, which makes them perfect with open-back shoes and mules
- Excellent grip once positioned: sitting, standing and moving, the stockings stay firmly in place
The sizing is the real story of this review. Simona wears the size M indicated by the chart, but she is honest about the result: for her build an L would have been the right choice. The band cannot be pulled to its natural height, otherwise the top edge starts rolling, so she has to wear it lower on the thigh. The tighter fit also creates a slight indentation on the leg that can show under close-fitting clothes, and she notices a small step in the stitching that closes the lace top, a seam she judges not perfectly executed. Her practical advice for buyers is twofold: size up if you are between sizes, and choose a slightly darker shade if you prefer a color that hides small leg imperfections, since this very light tone highlights everything.
She styles the Romana in two outfits. The first is a simple everyday look, ideal for errands and daily life, where the neutral color proves it can accompany any wardrobe. The second is a white lace cocktail dress she once wore to present a beauty pageant evening, an elegant option that could also work during the day with a jacket and sneakers. With the shorter dress the low-worn band occasionally peeks out, something she finds acceptable for a special evening but not for daytime, and she openly admits she is not a fan of the band showing through tight dresses.
Her final verdict remains positive: a beautiful, genuinely silky Italian stocking that works day and night with any outfit, with excellent comfort for all-day wear and a toe construction among the best she has tried. The reservations are all about size choice rather than the product itself, and she is happy to recommend a made in Italy product from a small national manufacturer.
