Watch Simona’s full review of the Gerbe Voile Gerlon sheer hold-up stockings. In this Glamissima video review, Simona tests the fit, sheerness, comfort and overall quality of these 15 denier French hold-ups in classic black.

Gerbe is one of the historic names of French hosiery, and the Voile Gerlon model reflects that heritage from the very first glance. The stockings arrived via Amazon in perfect condition, in a classic hosiery box whose imagery Simona describes as playful yet elegant at the same time. The back of the packaging lists all the usual size information and highlights a key construction detail: both the toe and the heel are reinforced. Inside, the stockings are wrapped around the traditional cardboard insert, but with a touch Simona has never seen before in any hold-up she has reviewed.
That detail is a dedicated cardboard protector placed over the silicone band of the lace top. It is not just packaging: an included label explains that the small cardboard piece should be reused after every wear, placed back inside the top of the stocking so the silicone keeps its grip perfectly until the next use. The same label adds genuine care advice, such as washing the stockings after every use and letting them dry completely. Combined with the quality certificate found inside the box, confirming the pair was individually inspected, it all signals a level of attention that budget hold-ups simply do not offer.
The stockings themselves are sheer 15 denier in black, in size 4, with a lace top that is unusual in Simona’s experience: not particularly tall, decorated with very small flowers in a soft raised pattern. Here are the key points from her hands-on and wearing tests:
- Reinforced toe and heel, clearly visible in the close-up section of the video
- Soft seams across the arch of the foot that never bother the skin
- A lace top with only two silicone bands, but both very wide, giving excellent grip
- No tightness on the leg: the band adheres without squeezing and leaves no mark on the skin
- Perfect hold in every test: standing, walking, bending, sitting down and getting up, with no slipping and no wrinkles
Simona styles the hold-ups in two outfits. The first is a fully casual look for everyday errands: grocery shopping, picking up the kids from school or a coffee with friends. Worn this way the 15 denier sheerness looks beautiful on the leg, and the band stays comfortable all day. The second outfit is more formal, a fitted dress she suggests for a ceremony, a job interview or a managerial office look with a blazer.
It is precisely with the fitted looks that Simona flags the one real limitation of this model. Under a tight shiny skirt in the first look, and even more under the fitted dress in the second, the raised pattern of the lace top shows through the fabric, revealing that you are wearing hold-ups. Her advice is simple: the Voile Gerlon performs beautifully, but pair it with skirts and dresses that are not skin-tight, or accept that the band will be visible under close-fitting clothes.
Her final verdict is clearly positive. This is a well-made French stocking with a soft, even sheerness that makes the leg look smooth and uniform, a sensual and elegant raised-pattern top, reliable grip throughout the day and a care system that genuinely extends the life of the product. As Simona reminds viewers, with the right care even a delicate 15 denier stocking can last a long time.
