Watch Sara G’s full review of the Chilirose Flesh-Tone Hold-Ups with Black Lace Top. These stay-up stockings arrive in compact packaging and make an immediate impression with their tall decorative lace band and a distinctive back seam running the full length of the leg.
The stockings are made from polyamide and elastane, with the elastane proportion sitting at a notably high 15%. Sara notes that this relatively generous elastane content should translate into both softness and comfort during wear, and her on-body impressions confirmed those expectations: the stockings feel silky and smooth against the skin and do not pull or cause any irritation.
Examining the stockings before putting them on, Sara highlights several design details worth noting:
- Lace top: very tall, with a leaf pattern woven into the band
- Adhesive strip: wide and well-placed, keeping the stockings securely in position even when walking
- Back seam: runs the full length of the leg for a classic, dressed look
- Black reinforced heel: a prominent feature with visible stitching that Sara found sturdy when the stocking is stretched
- Colour: flesh tone body with contrasting black heel and lace top
On the body the fit is comfortable and the lace band does not slip. Sara walked around to test retention and the stockings stayed up without adjustment. The fabric has a fine, silky sheen and the seam at the back gives an elegant, elongated line to the leg. She tried two different outfits and found the stocking suited both, pairing well with a short dark skirt and also with a sheer black skirt and white blouse.
The one consistent reservation Sara raises is the black reinforced heel, which protrudes visibly above the back of low-cut shoes and court heels. In her view this limits the footwear options considerably: the stockings work best paired with ankle boots or taller footwear that covers the heel entirely. She would have preferred the design to carry the back seam through a sheer foot without the contrasting reinforced block, which she finds visually disruptive when wearing open-back shoes.
On durability Sara is cautiously positive. The stitching at the heel looks robust and the fabric withstood gentle stretching without any sign of tearing. She does mention that wearers with long nails should take care when pulling them on. Longevity over repeated wears was still to be confirmed at the time of filming.
In her conclusion Sara describes the Chilirose hold-ups as high quality in terms of fabric feel, lace construction and overall finish, and she would buy from the brand again. However, she would not repurchase this specific style because of the heel design. Her overall recommendation is that these stockings are a strong choice for anyone who plans to wear them with boots or higher footwear, but she advises caution if your wardrobe leans toward flat or low-heeled shoes.
