Watch Sara G.’s full review of the Calzedonia open Fashion Tights with fake suspenders. In this Glamissima video review, Sara tests the fit, construction and overall quality of this daring lace hosiery model from the Italian brand’s Fashion Tights line.
Calzedonia’s Fashion Tights collection is where the brand allows itself to experiment, and this model is one of its boldest designs: a pair of tights open at the front and at the back, built entirely in lace, with a fake suspender construction connecting the leg to the waist. The result mimics the look of stockings held by a suspender belt, but everything is a single garment anchored by a thick, trouser-style waistband. Sara wears her usual size M, an Italian third, and the sizing question becomes the central thread of the whole review.
Out of the packaging, first impressions are excellent. Here is what Sara highlights while examining the tights up close:
- Beautiful, substantial lace across the whole leg, with a seam line running up the back
- Open construction at the front and rear, with the lace continuing into suspender-style straps on both sides
- A wide, robust waistband, made almost like a trouser waist, that anchors the whole structure
- Thick enough at the waist to stay invisible under a dress despite its size
- Overall build quality she rates as excellent, with resistant lace and clean construction throughout
The wearing test is where the honest side of this review comes out. Despite being her correct size, the fit on Sara’s leg is not perfect: the lace occasionally slips down, forms visible folds along the leg and stays loose around the ankle. Her conclusion is practical rather than dismissive: the model clearly runs large, so her advice for anyone interested is to size down from their usual Calzedonia size. She is transparent about her personal verdict too: a beautiful, well-made product that simply is not her ideal type of tights in the way it dresses the leg.
Sara styles the tights in two total black outfits. The first is an evening look built around a black faux leather dress and very high glossy black heels, a deliberately provocative combination she would reserve strictly for a night out after dinner. The second is a shorter, more fitted black dress with simple black glitter sandals, and it becomes her favorite of the two: the shorter cut lets the suspender section of the tights peek through, arguably making the look more striking, yet she finds the overall combination more wearable, discreet enough in her words even for running errands during the day. She invites viewers to pick their favorite in the comments.
Her final assessment separates craftsmanship from fit. On construction, nothing to fault: well-made, resistant lace, a distinctive fake suspender effect and that excellent trouser-like waistband. On fit, the tendency to crease and stand away from the leg and ankle, even in the right size, is the one real defect, solvable by choosing a size smaller. The close-up photo gallery, as Sara herself points out in the video, is the best place to judge the details of the lace up close.
