Watch Brunella’s full review of the Cecilia de Rafael Eterno 20. These are a shiny black 20 denier pantyhose from Cecilia de Rafael, tested here in a size S (size 2), a product that promised comfort and a sleek look but ultimately delivered a mixed experience.
Brunella’s first impression before putting them on was cautious optimism. She noted that the packaging made specific claims about comfort, and she was curious to see whether these held up, since in her experience shiny tights can sometimes feel tighter and harder to put on than their matte counterparts. The sheerness was visible through the packaging, which she found promising.
Once on, the tights did confirm the comfort claims to a degree. They went on without Brunella needing to pull or struggle, and she reports that they do not dig in or cause any discomfort at the waist or elsewhere. The toe seam is small and barely noticeable when worn. However, Brunella was slightly underwhelmed by the sheen, saying she had expected them to look a little more noticeably glossy.
Key observations from the review:
- Denier: 20 den, shiny finish
- Colour: black
- Comfort: does not squeeze or restrict, easy to put on
- Waistband: no tightness reported
- Toe seam: small, unobtrusive, no discomfort
- Sheen level: less glossy than expected, more of a moderate shine
- Texture: neither very soft nor rough, a mid-range feel
- Durability: severe laddering across multiple points on first wear
The most significant issue Brunella encountered was extensive laddering during the very first time she put the tights on. She is careful to note that she took her time pulling them up gently, has no long nails, and was deliberately slow to avoid exactly this problem. Despite that, the tights developed a very large number of runs across multiple areas, including near the sole of the foot, along the leg, and at the back. She points out one particularly wide and long snag she describes as unlike anything she has seen with other tights. She also noticed a visible tension line that suggested further damage could occur on a second wearing.
Brunella is emphatic that this level of damage on the first and only wear is the defining factor in her assessment. While she acknowledges the comfort is genuinely good, she argues it counts for very little if the tights are unwearable by the time you have finished putting them on. She would not recommend wearing them for an evening out, and suggests pairing any occasion-wear outfit with a different, more durable pair of tights instead.
Her overall verdict is that the comfort is the one positive, but the durability is so poor that it overshadows everything else. Unless your experience differs significantly, Brunella cannot recommend these tights.
