Watch Honey’s full review of the Gata Miao Red PVC Stockings. In this video Honey unboxes and tries on a pair of stockings that arrived in very minimal packaging, noting only that they are size L and made in China. The material is PVC, described as giving a classic wet look or shiny effect that Honey particularly enjoys alongside latex pieces in her wardrobe.
Before putting the stockings on, Honey applies a specialist shining spray to the stockings, explaining that PVC is already fairly glossy on its own but that similar latex items can turn dull over time and benefit from a product designed to restore their shine. She notes the strong chemical smell typical of PVC material, which she considers unpleasant on first encounter but expected for this type of product.
Honey selected size L for this review, going up from her usual L/ML in standard tights and hosiery specifically because PVC behaves like a second skin and leaves no room for error. She wears a shoe size 40 to 41, which proved to be a significant factor in how the stockings performed on her feet.
Key observations from the try-on:
- Material: PVC with a high-gloss wet-look finish
- Size tried: L, with Honey recommending going at least one size up
- Fit at the thigh: very tight, causing a visible squeezing effect and noticeable discomfort
- Foot fit: the toe area has a somewhat squared shape rather than rounded, leaving excess fabric bunching at the toes on both feet
- Seams: positioned along the thigh and visible from inside
- Application: difficult to put on without talcum powder, which Honey recommends using to help the material slide on
The fit issues remained consistent across two different outfit combinations Honey tried. In both cases excess fabric continued to bunch and re-emerge at the toes when walking, and the thigh area remained uncomfortably tight. Honey notes that her legs are muscular, which may contribute to the tightness, but she considers the foot shape problem a design issue independent of leg size.

Honey’s verdict is cautious. She finds the colour and overall look appealing and plans to reorder in size XL to see whether the fit and foot issues can be resolved. In their current form in size L she considers these stockings uncomfortable and not practical to wear, describing the excess toe fabric as unsightly in motion. If sizing up does not improve things, she says she would consider trying a different brand for this style of PVC stocking.
