The stockings arrive in a minimal package with the usual cardboard insert that shows off the pattern. Out of the packet, the construction is as essential as it gets. The garter is a plain elastic band with no lace or decoration, and the sparkles run from the top of the leg down to the ankle. Below that point the net continues without embellishment, which keeps the sole of the foot free from anything that could press or rub when walking.

At the toe, the net becomes tighter to hold the toes in place. Micaela points out that the area is still quite small, so the little toe tends to slip out of the mesh slightly. It is a minor detail, and in her view the toe still does its job. Her honest reservations concern durability and fit. The stockings feel fragile, and she sees them as a pair for one or two special occasions rather than everyday wear. When putting them on, the sparkles can catch on the net, and pulling too hard could tear them, so they need to be handled with care. The fit is also tight: the net marks the skin on the thighs, and since they come in one size, there is little room to stretch for larger legs.
