Watch Chiara’s full review of the Golden Point Seamless Parisienne-Effect Tights. These black tights from Golden Point are designed with a so-called parisienne effect, meaning the upper portion is intended to appear more sheer while the lower leg reads as noticeably darker, mimicking the look of hold-up stockings worn under regular hosiery.
Chiara opens the packaging and notes the construction straight away. The tights feature a darker opaque culotte panel at the top, which she points out is a practical detail, meaning there are no issues with short hemlines. The only seams present are at the foot and at the very top of the waistband, consistent with the seamless claim on the box.
The listed composition on the packaging is 86% polyamide, 14% elastane. The tights are machine washable, which Chiara flags as a straightforward positive. She purchased a size M, noting she is at the upper boundary of her usual size range and prefers a slightly looser fit over a tight one.
Chiara tries the tights with two different outfits: a dress and then a black shorts-and-ankle-boot combination. Her key observations from both looks are summarised below:
- Parisienne contrast: much less pronounced than expected, the two tones read as nearly the same shade
- Fabric texture: the knit bunches and gathers noticeably, creating an uneven surface on the leg
- Waistband height: sits lower than she would like, and she feels the tights gradually slide down with wear
- Opacity on size M: slightly more transparent than intended because the size runs a little large for her frame
- Skin comfort: no irritation, no itching, the fabric does not scratch or pinch
The most consistent complaint across both outfit tests is the way the fabric gathers and creates a ridged, uneven texture on the leg. Chiara describes this as giving an almost dimpled appearance to the skin, which is the opposite of the smooth, even look she was hoping the parisienne effect would provide. She also notes that even at a distance the tights read unmistakably as hosiery, with a grey, slightly dull cast rather than a clean contrast between sheer and dark.
In terms of sizing, Chiara’s experience suggests the tights may run slightly large. She notes that a correctly fitting size would probably appear more opaque in the lower leg, which might actually improve the contrast effect. However, she is clear that sizing up purely to add opacity would not be a reasonable solution, since it would only worsen the gathering issue.
Chiara’s overall verdict is that she was drawn to the concept but the execution did not meet her expectations. The one genuine positive she lands on is skin comfort: the tights cause no irritation at all during wear. Everything else, the weak tonal contrast, the fabric bunching, the tendency to drop at the waist, and the flat grey appearance, leaves her unconvinced. She does not consider them a product she would return to, though she acknowledges that viewers who prioritise comfort over the visual parisienne effect might feel differently.
