Watch Marla’s full review of the Fiore Raya Black Striped Sheer Tights. In this video she puts the tights through an up-close inspection and wears them with two different outfits to show how they look in practice.
The tights are the Fiore Raya model, rated at 20 denier, making them a lightweight sheer option. Marla notes that at this denier they are definitely too light for winter wear and are better suited to milder temperatures or evenings out. The colour is black, and the defining feature is a vertical stripe pattern created by alternating a darker and a lighter rib, which Marla notes should help to elongate the leg visually.
Marla selected size three, described on the packaging as an M and listed as fitting a height range of 164 to 170 cm. However, she discovered a discrepancy: the inner label on the tights read size four rather than three, which she suspects accounts for why they felt very long in the leg. Despite the extra length they did not stretch generously in width, leaving her feeling they ran narrow for the size indicated.
Key observations from the review include:
- 20 denier: sheer and lightweight, not suitable for cold weather
- Vertical stripe design: alternating dark and light ribs intended to slim the silhouette
- Sizing inconsistency: packaging stated size three but inner label read size four
- Toe: plain finish with a simple seam, no reinforced toe
- Comfort: Marla found the double-rib stripe structure pinched slightly during wear
- Packaging: satin-finish cardboard box with an inner envelope, no adhesive seal on the envelope
- Fabric flaws: small holes and loose threads noted in the knit before wear began
Putting them on was not straightforward. Marla found the tights delicate to handle and felt they were tight across the body even though the leg length was generous. She also spotted what appeared to be a weaving defect in the fabric before she had even finished dressing, along with several small holes she confirmed were already there rather than caused by her nails. There were also some loose threads visible in the knit structure.
On the positive side, Marla was happy with how the tights looked when worn. She tried them first with a short red dress for a daytime or aperitivo look and then with a dressier evening outfit, and found them visually flattering in both cases. The striped pattern reads well on the leg and the overall aesthetic is attractive.
The overall verdict is mixed. The tights are pretty and the stripe effect works well visually, but the comfort level is below average due to the pinching sensation from the stripe construction, and the quality control raised concerns with the fabric imperfections and the size labelling mismatch. Marla’s conclusion is that they are wearable and look good once on, but she would not describe them as comfortable or as a confident recommendation on quality grounds.
