Watch Mayra’s full review of the Black Fishnet Hold-Ups. In this video she unboxes and tries on a pair of self-supporting fishnet stockings, testing how they look and feel across two complete outfits and sharing her honest verdict on the overall quality.
The stockings arrive in simple plastic bag packaging rather than a box, which gives an immediate first impression of a budget-level product. Mayra notes the hold-up band has a lace-style finish that looks opaque and decorative, similar in appearance to a garter. She observes that the band does not look especially wide, though she finds it can be positioned higher or lower on the thigh to suit different looks.
Trying them on for the first time, Mayra points out that she had never worn fishnet stockings before, so the open, net-weave texture felt unfamiliar. The fit she received was a size small, which she describes as feeling a little tight on her legs. She suggests that people with fuller legs should consider going one or two sizes up to avoid uncomfortable pressure.
During the try-on Mayra identifies several specific quality concerns worth noting:
- Loose threads visible along the stocking, which she says lower the overall quality impression, though she notes they can be trimmed
- Toe area has an unusual small fold or crease that sits inside the foot; she reports it is not painful when walking but does feel strange
- Hold-up band folds and creases easily when placed on the leg, suggesting the lace could be more elastic
- Overall construction feels thin and somewhat fragile to her
- Sizing runs small: she received a size S and found it noticeably tight
On the style side, Mayra presents two outfits. The first pairs the stockings with a short black dress and a leather jacket, creating what she describes as a rock-and-roll aesthetic. She deliberately wears the stockings slightly lower so the hold-up band is visible below the dress hem, treating it as a decorative detail. The second outfit combines the stockings with a backless tied blouse and a small faux-fur skirt, again in black. In both cases she feels the fishnet silhouette works well visually and attracts attention.
Mayra’s overall verdict is mixed. She likes the look of the stockings at first glance and finds they style well with dark, edgy outfits. However, she is not satisfied with the quality: the loose threads, the odd toe seam, and the fragile feel of the fabric lead her to say she would not buy them again. She acknowledges that the sizing available may simply not have been right for her, and that someone who orders the correct size might have a different experience, but the construction details remain a concern regardless.
