The standout feature of these hold-ups is the welt. Rather than a plain silicone band, the Ars Amandi carries a raised velvet welt decorated with a Kama Sutra-inspired motif worked in relief. Sara describes it as artistic and very beautiful, and points out that the design really demands to be shown off above the hemline, making short skirts and mini dresses the natural pairing.
Sara also takes a close look at the foot of the stocking and notes a few things worth knowing before buying:
- Toe area: simple seam only, no reinforced toe
- Heel: no reinforcement either, construction is plain throughout
- Fabric: very fine and delicate, care is needed when pulling them on
- Welt: raised velvet, robust and not at risk of snagging
- Resistance to runs: despite the fine fabric and Sara wearing an ankle bracelet, no snagging or pulling of threads was observed
Comfort and hold are both praised. The adhesive band grips well throughout movement, sitting and walking, and the stockings did not slip down at any point during the review. Sara confirms there is no feeling of constriction around the thigh, which she considers an important factor.
Sara rounds out the review with a clear positive verdict. She describes the overall quality as excellent, singles out the unique decorative welt as the defining feature, and states she intends to buy from Gatta again. Her only caution is to take care when putting them on given how fine the fabric is, but she is otherwise fully satisfied with the purchase.
