The stockings arrived in a sturdy cardboard box, which Chiara describes as impeccable and completely intact. Inside, the hold-ups were protected by a plastic sleeve and wrapped around a cardboard insert, giving them an extra layer of protection during shipping.
At 15 denier, these are sheer hold-ups. Chiara notes that despite the relatively low denier, they have a noticeably opaque appearance in normal light, yet in direct sunlight they become quite transparent and show a good deal of the skin beneath. She describes the overall finish as a very sheer, veiled effect.
Chiara highlights several construction details she observed before and during wear:
- Lace welt: a floral lace band at the top, described as very elegant and soft to the touch
- Silicone grip: three silicone inserts inside the welt that hold the stocking firmly against the thigh
- Welt height: approximately 5 to 7 centimetres, relatively narrow but grips well
- Semi-reinforced toe: the packaging confirms a semi-reinforced toe with a seam; Chiara notes it is fairly substantial and could peek out of open shoes
- Foot shape: the stocking is pre-shaped at the foot, making it easier to put on
Chiara chose size S, which she says suits her well, but she advises that anyone who finds compression uncomfortable or has a slimmer thigh should consider sizing up by one size, as the welt grips the thigh firmly and can feel tight. For those with a very slim thigh she also recommends pairing the hold-ups with a suspender belt for added security.
Regarding care, she points out that the silicone strips should be kept clean and free from body cream residue, as creams can reduce the grip over time. Keeping the silicone clean will help maintain the hold-up’s staying power on the thigh.
Overall Chiara is positive about the Oroblu Soiree hold-ups. She praises the softness of the fabric, the elegance of the floral lace welt, and the reliable hold provided by the silicone band. Her main practical note is the sizing advice: the fit is snug, so going up a size is worth considering if you prefer a lighter feel on the skin.
